Stephen Eakin received a B.F.A. in both Studio Art and Film Studies from University of the Pacific in Stockton, California, where he worked with sculpture and video installation. Out of a desire to continually experiment across media, Eakin went on to receive an M.F.A. from the University of Minnesota with an emphasis in Experimental and Media Arts. There he studied video, film, sculpture, installation, and interactive modes of production. He returned to Stockton to teach as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Visual Arts at University of the Pacific, Sacramento State University and American River College and in Sacramento.

Eakin has shown in juried exhibitions such as The International Juried Show at Rogue Space in Chelsea, NYC, Open Door at Rosalux Gallery in Minneapolis, Minnesota, The 4th National Juried Exhibition at Axis Gallery in Sacramento, and The San Joaquin International Film Festival in Stockton. He has exhibited video, film, installation, and sculptural projects in Minneapolis, Berkeley, Sacramento, Stockton, New York City, Kalamata, and Winnipeg. He recently completed a residency at Kitchen Budapest, a new media research lab in Budapest, Hungary, and will exhibit new work at Axis Gallery in Sacramento this March.
